Caption this!

What a funny looking pair on this antique photo postcard.  Father and son, perhaps, or two brothers?  You decide:

Junior:  Aw, Pa, don't you whup my head again.
Pa: Son, I said put that hat on straight and look at the camera.
Junior:  Aw, Pa, my hat's too small!

Now, add a caption of your own...

Don't try this at home...

Eldorado Springs,  Colo.    Ivy Baldwin on the Tight Rope.
Height, 582 feet.   Length, 530 feet.
This old card, mailed in 1913, documents the daredevil tightrope walk made by Ivy Baldwin, who crossed Eldorado Canyon in 1906.  Eldorado Canyon is a short distance above Boulder, Colorado.  They apparently had a heyday in the early 1900's with resorts in the area.  Ivy Baldwin was profiled by Life Magazine when he returned at age 82.

Send Me a Postcard!

A fun, vintage color photo card.  This one was mailed in 1962.  I am not sure what the letter and number notations are on the front, but I still like the image.  So very retro!

The Whole Family

Did you spend the holidays with your family?  Hopefully they didn't look like this:
It is such an interesting card, with writing space on the front, as well as the back.  The back says "POST CARD" but has no other markings.
I think the black and white illustration is so clever.  Take a look close up:

And, I hope your family gatherings are more pleasant than that one!

Caption this!

I love this vintage photo!  Unfortunately, any identifying marks have been removed.  It's a team!  For what?  Wrestling, debate, marching?  5 coaches, 10 in uniform.
What's their story?

Where are you going?

Are you planning a vacation?  This little guy is.  Standing in front of a sign post in Maine, located at Lynchville at the junction of Routes 5 and 35 in Albany Township.  This scallop edged postcard is a old color photograph, perhaps from the 50's.
Which way would you go?

Great Expanses!

A little humor to lighten your Monday...

A vintage, illustrated card.   This one is undated but was used in the 70's.  Judging from the texture of the paper and quality of the printing, it is much older than that.  A great vacation postcard from the "wild west"!

Caption this!

A quite serious and handsome woman, in a beautiful velvet gown, having her photo taken in the ornate Stevens' photography studio backdrop.

What's her story?

And if you like the info on the backs of these photo cards, here you go:

Caption this!

A fabulous, vintage photograph of four men in uniform.  They are quite curious - posed on a bench, one reading a book, one in s suit, all in hats.  Unfortunately, any identifying elements of the original photo folder have been cut from the card on which it's mounted.

What is their story?

I'm thinking of you...

(front of folded card, 3.5 x 8 inches)
I love this adorable friendship card.  There are no other words to describe this kitschy-cute character other than adorable, right?

(inside of card, 7 x 8 inches)
This is an un-used, vintage thinking of you card.  The details on the front are raised.  The outline of the question mark is metallic gold.  What a cutesy vintage gem!
