A stay at the Plaza Hotel

Looks like a great place for a holiday weekend stay, in Wheeling, West Virginia.  I can't wait to eat that the "adjoining restaurant."  Chicken in the Rough sounds delicious, doesn't it?  The back of the card announces this motel's many amenities:

Even if it is a bit crumpled, its a beauty.

Fresh Blackberries

This card is copyright 1910 by Edward H Mitchell, San Francisco.  It is a fine example of a large fruit advertising card.  The text at the top says: "A carload of blackberries from_____________"

The back of the card, unused, would be a great image for a do-it-yourself card, collaging or scrapbooking.

Aquamaids on Parade

This is one of my all time favorite beach cards:

I think these 6 ladies are fabulous!  Mailed in 1960, this color photo card, is a great advertisement for Florida tourism.  The text on the back says:

"AQUAMAIDS ON PARADE

The beautiful group of girls have

made the sport of water skiing popular over the

whole world by performing wonderful stunts

on skis during the four ski shows held daily

at Florida Cypress Gardens."

Vacation in the Ocean State

This one is a great travel card for the State of Rhode Island - not always the first place I think of for sun and the beach - but, it looks great in this card, doesn't it!

Vacation, anyone?

This is a nice tourist card from Fisherman's Warf in San Fransisco.  Funny card, though.  Look at all the people in the background who weren't really part of the photo.  They guy in the hat, on the right is wondering what the heck is going on!  Not sure all the flailing crabs will entice me to a vacation.

Wisconsin

Greetings from Wisconsin....With this vintage, large letter postcard.

The back of this unused card tells of all the attractions of Wisconsin.

Thinking of the people of Wisconsin as they continue to make history.

Happy Rally Day

Happy Rally Day!  This little gem of a card is a Rally Day Invitation - a reminder of a bygone holiday.  Celebrated to honor George Washington's Birthday, this year's Rally Day is February 23.
The card is a cute, color illustration showing three children with alphabet blocks.

Caption this!

An unused color advertisement postcard for Berquist's Wildlife Exhibit.  The back says:

Animals - Fish - Oddities - Rock Collection.

This exhibit is a unique display of Norther Wisconsin's

wild animals.  The big lumberjack is 18 ft. tall and towers

over Paul Bunyan's Museum collections of the old 

logging days.  A visit you'll long remember.

I find the lady in the feather headdress most interesting.  It almost looks as though you could go in to the exhibit and never come out.

Big Oranges

This unused postcard is a great example of a color advertisemnt card used around the turn of the century.  Dated 1909, the top says "A carload of mammoth navel oranges from ______________________."  This card is published by Edward H. Mitchell, San Francisco.
