Jack Rabbit

Saddling up big Jack
The text on the back of this silly postcard says, "It is not unusual to break these fellows and use them for ranch work."   This is an unused, color photo postcard, printed in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  The Jackrabbit and Jackalope are a popular subject for western postcards.  I have several in my collection, including this one.

Don't try this at home...

Eldorado Springs,  Colo.    Ivy Baldwin on the Tight Rope.
Height, 582 feet.   Length, 530 feet.
This old card, mailed in 1913, documents the daredevil tightrope walk made by Ivy Baldwin, who crossed Eldorado Canyon in 1906.  Eldorado Canyon is a short distance above Boulder, Colorado.  They apparently had a heyday in the early 1900's with resorts in the area.  Ivy Baldwin was profiled by Life Magazine when he returned at age 82.

Baby Burro

Glad to see you, a friendly baby burro
A typical character of the west

An interesting wildlife photo postcard printed on textured paper.  The paper and printing gives the image a unique quality.  Such funny captions on these old cards!

Scenic View

A beautiful, snowy scene from Rocky Mountain National Park, near Estes Park, Colorado.  The title of this card is "Dream Lake Estes Park."  I love the color in this card and the texture on the paper.
